Exactly peace.
It's just different to older stuff.
A lot of it seems to have been played in live. Love that bit where his synth playing just goes totally out of time. Takes some balls.
As for that weird slidey bass distortion thing. Must be all the pedals fucking up his reaktor patches.
In summary: insane. Amazing talent. Pitchfork lamely compared it to glass swords. Fuck that. GS is some prepubescent shit. That's for you toot.

I recently bought a cinematic vagina to make new choonz, and it's like, all over the place, man. You tweak the cutoff and resonance until you nearly poo, but then it's all in 3-d 99999p resolution. MIDI input.

nah not as intricate as his earlier stuff. there's no double melody, triple melody, bass lines that snake in and out of melodies like a layer of rhythm itself. his earlier stuff (take beep street i.e.) had like 3 distinct layers of melody that worked on it's own and came together like an orchestra. this one's all too in yo face n shit. too popsy. even track 2 feels like two songs interlinked, not intertwined like

ya feel me?

but then again i only listened to it twice tho. this one's definitely going to a month long affair.

And actually, if you are looking for 'complex' music, then this is pretty complex (and just nice). There is a lot of rhythmic detail that you pick up on after a few listens that isn't as easily apparent as a rinsed-out amen (plenty of hi-hat and bass trickery, not to mention multiple side-chained frequency-modulated compression stuff). Anyway, I'll leave it at that. I've been a sceptical Squarepusher fan of late, but this actually makes me smile a lot. Track 2 is even starting to make sense.
